Golden Empire Transit District
Solar Engineering Services
MasTek is providing solar engineering services to Golden Empire Transit District (GETD) to design and construct a 4-acre photovoltaic (PV) farm in Bakersfield, CA. The solar engineering and consulting services MasTek provides, includes: Site Analysis, Engineering Design, Construction Documentation, Equipment Selection, Utility Collaboration, Request for Proposal, Bid Specifications, and Commissioning and Acceptance Testing.
The feasibility study identifies many focus points such as ability to develop solar field on available land, environmental conditions assessment for commercial development, accessibility of energy transmission and distribution infrastructure, ability to provide an economically viable use for sites, ability to provide job opportunities in the local community, ability to advance cleaner and more cost-effective energy technologies, and the ability to reduce the environmental impacts of energy systems (e.g., reduce greenhouse gas emissions). The feasibility study also includes the estimated five-year renewable energy production and cost benefit to the GETD.
Design and Specification
MasTek developed the preliminary designs of the solar farm with maximum efficiency. Design package includes solar layouts, electrical and control single line diagrams, protection and interconnection designs, cable/conduit/panel schedules, grading plans, grounding details, duct bank details, etc. MasTek developed bid specification for the future selected construction contractor. The bid specifications are developed in accordance to all local, state, and municipal codes.
Bidding for construction / Interconnection
MasTek provides consulting services during the bid process and assists in selecting the most qualified contractor. MasTek supervises the entire construction process on behalf of GETD. MasTek will collaborates with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to initiate the interconnection process during construction.
Testing and Commissioning
Upon completion of construction, MasTek conducts testing and commissioning to ensure the solar PV farm is in compliance and constructed following all guidelines. Once testing and commissioning is approved, MasTek finalizes the interconnection with PG&E.
